Research Paper and Proposal

Your research paper is designed to look at potential solutions to a particular environmental problem.

You should start your paper with an introduction which includes a brief description of why the problem is important, and a hypothesis related to solutions you will propose that might go something like this:

"The current format of the Kyoto Protocol cannot adequately control the accumulation of greenhouse gases and the resulting problems with global climate change. A new international treaty based on a system of carbon taxes is required to control the accumulation of greenhouse gases." (this is an example only-you are free to chose your own topic)

This would be followed by a presentation of the environmental problem and why it is important, this should be short and not distract from the primary purpose of you paper which is to discuss solutions.

The next step would be to discuss existing policy as well as prior and current attempts to solve the problem.

Follow this with a presentation of your suggested solution and a comparison with what you discussed in the preceding section.

Close your paper with conclusions based on the discussion in your paper.

Your proposal should include a statement of the environmental problem, the solution you propose, what you will be comparing the solution with, and a preliminary list of references that you will be using to inform your analysis.
