An examination of the metaphysics, epistemology, philosophy of religion and ethics of the rationalist philosophers René Descartes, Baruch Spinoza and Gottfried Wilhelm von Leibniz, and the empiricist philosophers John Locke, George Berkeley and David Hume. Topics include skepticism of the external world, rationalism, ideas and sense-impressions, mind-body dualism, the existence and nature of God, theories of substance, free-will and determinism, idealism, empiricism, personal identity and causation.
