SPEAKING FREELY

The following is an e-mail sent by the Public Relations Director for Students for Life to various faculty members on campus.

You are receiving this message because you are the head of a department
or involved in a relevant program and may be interested in inviting your
students and colleagues to an important speech tomorrow.

Karen Shablin will address the impact of healthcare policymaking on
abortion, including the controversial implementation of the family cap
in welfare reform.  Ms. Shablin, Feminists for Life of America speaker,
will present "Abortion: A Betrayal of Feminism" on March 10, 2009 at
7:30 pm at Washington & Lee, Stackhouse Theatre in the Elrod Commons.

Keep in mind that this talk is not solely geared to a particular group
or to those who support or oppose abortion. We feel it is relevant to
several areas of thought, including healthcare, politics, poverty,
sociology, and gender studies. We would love to have a varied audience
for this lecture and Q&A discussion. This is a topic that W&L students
and faculty do not frequently talk about, and we would greatly
appreciate your help in starting the conversation.

Please pass this on to anyone who might be interested in attending.

Thank you and see you on Tuesday night,
Allison Chopin, public relations director for Students for Life
