Rockbridge Hunt Trail Rides

Rockbridge Hunt will be hosting a few trail rides during the "off-season" in 2007. Our goal is one organized, Rockbridge Hunt-sponsored ride per month. You may want to read the FAQ on Hunt-sponsored trail rides.

These are led trail rides. We will usually split into at least two groups to accommodate various speeds. Green horses and green riders are welcome but you should be able to control your horse in a group. You should be able to stay in line, including walking up and down hills.

We will be riding over typical hunting territory. There are hills and mud and creeks and ditches and bridges. Most horses would benefit from being equipped with a breastplate.

Please be on your horse and ready to start at the stated time.

Please bring something to drink for yourself and your horse. After the ride we'll usually have an informal tailgate. Bring a snack to share if it's convenient.

Rockbridge Hunt members will not pay a fee. Riding members of MFHA-insured hunts will not pay a fee. Other guests will pay a fee of twenty dollars ($20) per person, one time for the year. If these guests attend additional rides, they will not pay an additional fee.

Every rider will be required to sign a copy of the waiver (Word format or PDF). Juniors must bring a copy of the waiver, signed by their parent(s).

Every rider must show a current negative Coggins. If you can bring a copy of the Coggins for us to keep, that would be very convenient and greatly appreciated.

Trail ride and potluck picnic at Montafon Farm. Please be ready to ride at 4 PM.

Directions to Montafon Farm:
From Interstate 81, take Exit 180 (one of two Natural Bridge exits) and go north on Route 11 (Lee Highway) for about 1.3 miles. Turn right onto Falling Springs Road (Route 680). After about 1.3 miles (at the bottom of the hill) turn left on Montafon Lane. Drive to the end of the lane and turn left, through the gate, into the pasture.
