General - Will you do me the honor to inform me when your History of the War will be ready & whether it will be sold entirely by subscription and whether, if it is under your control, you will give me the exclusive sale of it in Ill Mo, Ind, and Tenn, as other books are given.

I have the sole agency for Pollard's Hist. and other kindred works and my facilities are as good if not better than any man=s in the West.  All my agents desire your book soon as out.  If you have not the control, be kind enough to inform me who the publisher is & who has such control.
