Dear Sir.
I have in my school a young Kentuckian, of excellent moral and superior
mental acquirements anxious to become a Student of Washington College -
Unacquainted with the Course of Study and price of Board Tuition
etc – I have presumed to trespass upon your valuable time for the
purpose of gaining such information as you are pleased to communicate -
My pupil will I think be sufficiently advanced by Sept. to enter the
Sophomore Class and desires embracing the full course -
It was my pleasure to meet you in Richmond in Mr. Davis’ presence while
under Orders from Dept of Western Ky in Sept 1864.
a meeting perhaps forgotten by yourself but one that will be ever
remembered by myself with pride as giving me a sight of two men worthy of
the esteem admiration and confidence of our Southern land – I surrendered in
Command of my Regt at Meridian Miss May 9th
Since which time have been in Ky – With assurances of esteem I remain
