General:
It gives me pleasure to inform you that you have been selected as a Director for the State of Virginia in the “Southern Hospital Association for Disabled Soldiers,” to be located in New Orleans. The charter will be sent to you as soon as published. It will show you in detail the purposes of the Association, which, in brief are to furnish a house and medical attendance to all disabled soldiers of the Confederate States Army.
I hope to be able to signify to the Board your acceptance.
