            At a meeting of the Stockholders of the Great Southern & Western Life and Accident Insurance Company – convened for the purpose & held on Friday Evening May 18th Twenty Four Hundred & Seventy five Shares being represented – on motion of Genl F. J. Herron – duly seconded – it was unanimously

            Resolved – That inasmuch as this Company seems to have attained unprecedented popularity so easily in its existence, & as its numerous friends & patrons have frequently expressed the desire that Fire & Marine Insurance should be connected with its business, that the Board of Directors shall be & they are hereby authorized to avail themselves – acting on the part of this Company – of the privileges, rights & powers granted such institutions by the Statutes of the State of Louisiana, & to amend, alter or extend its Charter as to include Fire & Marine Insurance as a part of its regular business, or in such manner to carry out the purposes herein intended to be set forth, as may be required by Law -                                                                           A true copy
