At a meeting of the Stockholders of the Great Southern & Western Life
and Accident Insurance Company convened for the purpose & held on Friday
Evening May 18th Twenty Four Hundred & Seventy five Shares being
represented on motion of Genl F. J. Herron duly seconded it was
unanimously
Resolved That inasmuch as this Company seems to have attained
unprecedented popularity so easily in its existence, & as its numerous
friends & patrons have frequently expressed the desire that Fire &
Marine Insurance should be connected with its business, that the Board of
Directors shall be & they are hereby authorized to avail themselves
acting on the part of this Company of the privileges, rights & powers
granted such institutions by the Statutes of the State of Louisiana, & to
amend, alter or extend its Charter as to include Fire & Marine Insurance as
a part of its regular business, or in such manner to carry out the purposes
herein intended to be set forth, as may be required by Law -
