My dear Lucian

The papers have led into error as to my visiting Chapel Hill.  I shall be unable to attend the Commencement.  It would however give me great pleasure to see you, & to make the acquaintance of your wife & mother-in-law; but unless you can bring them to Lexington, I now know of no opportunity of doing so.

Please present to them my kindest regards, & express to Mrs Anderson my sincere thanks for her invitation to her house.

Mrs Lee & my daughters unite with me in affectionate remembrances to yourself
