Buffalo
Sept 8th 1841
Captain,
Yesterday I ordered the articles you mentioned in your note of the 1st Inst to be put on board the Madison, which is advertised for 3 p. m. today - The first opportunity since the receipt of your order - I shall see that every thing is on board -
Genl Scott has just proceeded to Detroit - He rendered himself exceedingly agreeable here by saying that the 4th Arty would return to the sea-coast next Spring - He says too that 4 of Aours@ are to be ordered to Florida-
I can give but an indifferent account of my own condition - recovery seems to be as remote as ever-
Very Respectfully
Yours Truly
J. E. Johnston
