AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Responsible for all aspects of the operations of the Special Collections Department of the Leyburn
Library including rare books, manuscripts, archives and records management.  Provides Special
Collections reference service and collection development and processes document collections. 
Serves as a Reference Librarian at Leyburn Library Main Reference Desk.  Teaches library instruction
classes in history.  Selects materials for the main library collection.  Oversees newspaper indexing
project, prepares exhibits and supervises Special Collections Assistant and student workers.  Maintains
 web sites for Special Collections and history resources.

Managed private research library with collections on the Lee family, colonial Virginia history and
local history.  Supervised several full and part-time employees and was responsible for the library
and other budget lines.  Selected and cataloged all library materials.  Oversaw organization and
preservation of large rare book collection.  Gave frequent talks on Stratford and the Lee family to
local organizations.  Was Associate Director of the Monticello-Stratford Hall Summer Seminar for
Teachers, a highly competitive, award winning annual seminar for history teachers with graduate level
credit through the University of Virginia.
