HOME PAGE OF THOMAS CROCKETT STANLEY

My name is Thomas Stanley. I am 15 years old. I am a freshman at Parry McCluer High School in Buena Vista, Virginia. I have many friends including Ethan, Andrew, Brandon, Hank, Zach, and Jonathan. I live in Buena Vista with my Mom and Dad and my little brother, Will, who is 9 years old and my little sister, Matty (Margaret Patricia), born July 23, 1999. Will was baptized on March 9, 1997 at the Buena Vista Presbyterian Church and he didn't cry much even when the minister put the water on his head. My Mom and Dad and I also joined the church that day. Matty was baptized on January 9, 2000 and Will and I helped with the ceremony. Will is in the fourth grade at Kling Elementary School. Matty is six and in the first grade at Kling.

I wanted George W. Bush for President in the 2000 election. I am glad he finally won after all that fussing in Florida. I hope he will be a good President and will be happy in the White House. He has my support in our war against terrorism too.

I played Little League baseball in Buena Vista at Laurel Park this past summer and I am playing again this year (2000). I have a great time. I bat left and throw left. My coach is Mr. John Cook.

I like to bowl. I have been bowling every Wednesday afternoon as part of an enrichment class at school. I also made great things out of wood in another good enrichment class.

I took swimming lessons at Washington and Lee in May.

My Dad is a Librarian at Washington and Lee University. My Mom is a Registered Nurse at the Washington and Lee Student Health Center. I went to Montessori School in Lexington for two and a half years. I graduated in June 1997. My kindergarten friends who went to school with me are Bernice, Katie, Clava, Robbie, Alexa, Sonja and Neil. Two of my other friends are Joseph and Derek. They used to go to Montessori School too.

When I was very little I went to Maine and Florida with my parents. I had my first birthday at Daytona Beach, Florida. My family likes to go to old time music festivals at Galax and Mount Airy. My Dad likes to take me to see Shakespeare in Williamsburg every summer. My favorite character is Sir Toby Belch.

I like to hike on the Appalachian Trail with my Dad. We have hiked together in Pennsylvania and I have hiked a total of 30 miles in 5 hikes. Pennsylvania is very rocky! Part of the Appalachian Trail goes close to where I live in Virginia.

My cousins live in Staunton and Delaware and Richmond. I like to visit them. I like to eat macaroni and cheese and drink Kool-Aid. My Dad is helping me write this.

I enjoy watching Power Rangers Galaxy, Dragon Ball Z, Beast Wars and Pokemon. I like playing with LEGOs and I build spaceships.

My Dad and I saw the new version of "Star Wars" on the big screen and I liked it a lot. Darth Vader is pretty cool but I like Luke Skywalker the best. We have also seen "The Empire Strikes Back" and "Return of the Jedi" too. I am looking forward to the new Star Wars movie, "Attack of the Clones" in 2002.

We have a 1997 Dodge Caravan with 158,000 miles on it. It has been to Texas, New England, Missouri, Michigan and Minnesota. We hope to get a new one in 2004.

We took a great vacation to Texas and surrounding states in 1997. We spent a whole day at Sea World in San Antonio. We saw the Alamo. We went to the Fort Worth Zoo. And we went to Galveston where I saw the Gulf of Mexico and I waded in it. We swam in motel pools every day. Even my little brother, Will, enjoyed it.

In August 1997 we took another vacation to Niagara Falls in both New York and Canada. We stayed on the Canadian side in Ontario. I saw the Falls all lit up in pretty colors at night. I saw a giant floral clock too. Then we went to Oswego, New York, where my Dad used to live. We saw Lake Ontario which goes as far as the eye can see. We went in a neat fort called Fort Ontario.

We spent a month in northern Michigan in summer 2001. My mom worked as a nurse at the Interlochen Center for the Arts. I love the Great Lakes.

I like to watch Bey Blades, Pokemon, Animorphs, Beast Wars and Mystic Knights on television. My little brother, Will, likes Transformers.

I am a major fan of Harry Potter. I have read all five of the J.K. Rowling books twice and my Dad took Will and me to see the movie, "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone," on its opening night.

On November 18, 2001 My Dad took me to Charlotte, North Carolina, to see my first NFL professional football game. It was a very exciting game between the Carolina Panthers (who I like) and the San Francisco 49ers. It went into overtime and the Niners won 25-22. I was disappointed but my Dad bought me a Panthers cap after the game. We had a great time.
