PHOTO ESSAY - BUILDING A LAB

How do you take an empty room and make it into a laser dynamics laboratory?  The pictures tell the story (click on thumbnails for a larger photo).

Begin with an empty room:

Then get many strong bodies and a forklift from Buildings and Grounds to install a 3/4 ton optical table.  Try not to drop it on the guys underneath:

Put a big frame around it and buy some state-of-the-art equipment (including the very last Newport SuperCavity that was built before the product line was obsoleted -- it's autographed!).

And finally, get some good students in there doing experiments!  Make sure they drink enough caffeine.
