Harold Hill was born in 1899 in Transelvania and came to the United States
right after the war. He worked as a CIA spy for 20 years. He was a very
capable spy but one day he made a biggest mistake of his life. On July
4th, 1970, as usual he started to work at 5:30 a.m. He was supposed to
give his wife a call to
wake her up at 6:00 but by accident he dialed President Nixon's number
and woke him up. That incensed President Nixon and he was fired
immediately.
Harold and his wife had a dog whose name was
Wolfgang. He had a special talent and could speak some human languages when
he was satisfied with his dog food. Harold was out of work and couldn't
find a job. He got so desperate that he gave Wolfgang a can of dog food
which cost him $49.00?!?! Wolfgang was very happy and satisfied. He
asked Harold, "Can't you find a job yet?". Harold asked Wolfgang what
to do and Wolfgang said, "Go to the town of Lexington and dig
Traveler's grave (Traveler is the name of a horse that General Lee
used to ride on). There you'll find something."
Harold was so
desperate that he rented a car and came to Lexington with Wolfgang. By the
time they got to Lexington, it was already dark but Harold couldn't
wait until the following morning to find out what was at Traveler's
grave. Before Harold started to dig, Wolfgang heard something and
started to bark. A weak voice said, "Don't mess around with me! You'll be
cursed!" The voice must have been Traveler's. Wolfgang was scared and
barked more loudly. Harold ignored Wolfgang and dug the ground.
Half an hour later he found a wooden box. It looked like it had something important. He took it to the motel where he stayed that night. Because he didn't have anything to open the box, he decided to wait until the following morning to buy a hammar and wrench at Wallmart. He was so exhausted that he fell asleep right away. In the middle of the night, he had a dream.
